UPSC 2018 Application Form & Eligibility

UPSC – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC): 

UPSC can also be abbreviated as Union Public Service Commission and it is one of the lawful competitive examinations conducted with the major aim of recruiting people in various posts under services of civil and defence. According to Union and Central Government, desired candidates will be able to avail numerous opportunities from the government body of Indian Civil Service. These services can be described as prestigious opportunities to all applicants. These services are described as in different forms such as IFS – Indian Forest Services, IAS – Indian Administrative Services and IPS – Indian Police Services.

UPSC 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Indian residents can apply UPSC Examination
  • Posts IAS and IPS are available underUPSC 2018 Examination and candidates those who have secured good scores in these tests will be given best opportunities.
  • Candidates should need to complete their 21 years of age and they should never exceed age of 32 years
  • Candidates come from SC categories will be having 5 years of age relaxation
  • OBC category candidates are given only 3 years of age relaxation

No of Attempts:

  • Eligible candidates will be able to apply this examination for maximum numbers of times and they can attend this test up to 6 times
  • OBC category candidates will be allowed to attend this examination for 9 numbers of times
  • Scheduled category candidates and scheduled tribe candidates are not having restrictions in this

Two major stages of UPSC Civil Service Examination:

Candidates are examined in two divisions and they are conducted into two divisions such as Preliminary Exam and Main Exam

Preliminary Exam:

  • These examinations are considered as compulsory
  • Candidates must attend both of these examinations
  • Objective modeled question types of question paper will be asked
  • Candidates have to attend this and totally 200 numbers of questions will be asked in this question paper
  • For each question, 4 options are given and candidates have to choose the best from the given 4 options
  • Total duration is 2 hours
  • English and Hindi will be used as medium of instruction
  • Candidates are asked full of Comprehension questions and only English is used here as medium of instruction
  • 20 minutes of grace time is given to all eligible candidates

Main Exam:

Main Examination will be conducted as like written test and this main examination will be conducted into two major papers.
